White-hot shimmer transforms lonely stretches of two-lane black top into raging rivers of mercury. The sun scorching all the clouds from the sky. Colors give way to mere light - formless and shapeless. I stumble along the gravel shoulder. The sweat drips from my brow and, in rivulets across my temples , flows into my eyes. Acrid and Salty it dries there and clouds my vision into a mass of formless spectres and hallucinatory lights. The world has melted beneath the gaze of a vengeful master. No wind blows now to sweep the dust, no breeze to cool my skin - cracking now and crimson. I lie down upon the brown grass and doze.

In a moment, rise and stride across that greying, ragged carpet.
Pick-me-up and out the door until I see you, find you, standing there.
In that red sweater, cut so low, an angel and a lover sweetest child.
To light my weary countenance and then EXPLODE
In regimental style, the leg in front of leg,
The undulation of those hips. Side to side to side.
With curves like rivers and flowing just underneath,
Secret little streams, and finger tips all moving.
That cherry red of lips so small and thin. Beckoning,
The call to part and taste
And taste the bitter, sickly sweet and lie and sink forever.
